Data Collection for study - 1st April 2008 to 31st March 2010
Publication date: 23rd October 2011
- This site undertakes surgery on children, but this is not undertaken by a paediatric surgeon - would we still be included in the study?
- Yes - we are including all children in the study, whether or not the operation was undertaken by a paediatric surgeon.
- We only undertake surgery on patients aged 16 or over, would we still be included in the study?
- Yes - as we are including patients aged 17 and younger your site will be marked as participating in the study. You will need to inform us of any deaths in this population, or a nil return, as per the study deadlines. An organizational questionnaire will also be sent to each site for completion.
- We only undertake minor and day case surgical procedures on children; would we still be included in the study?
- Yes - all sites where surgery is undertaken will be included in the study, and again we will need to be informed of any deaths in the study population, or a nil return, as per the study deadlines. Again, an organizational questionnaire will need to be completed for each site.
- No deaths occurred in children following a surgical procedure during the study time period - do I still need to participate?
- Yes; if surgery is undertaken on children at your Trust, you will still be marked as participating. Please just drop us a quick email to notify us no deaths occurred in the time frame so we can make sure out records are up to date.
- I would like to read the protocol - could you send me a copy?
- Yes. All hospital/units/centres will be asked to take part regardless as NCEPOD need data from all hospitals for this study. Please contact NCEPOD directly using the details in the Contact Us section.
