  • Where can I download a copy of the study protocol?
    • It can be downloaded here.
  • When will the final report be published?
    • This report will be due for publication in the summer of 2016
  • How were the patients identified?
    • Using ICD10 codes Local Reporters were asked to complete a predefined spreadsheet listing all patients admitted between the 1st January 2014 to the 30th June 2014, that met the inclusion criteria.
  • I have received the questionnaire to complete but I have looked through the case notes and this patient did not have acute pancreatitis during this admission?
    • Please telephone our office on 0207 251 9060 so that the case can be excluded.
  • I have received the questionnaire to complete but I have looked through the case notes and acute pancreatitis was not the primary diagnosis?
    • Please telephone our office on 0207 251 9060 so the case can be excluded
  • I have received the questionnaire to complete but I have looked through the case notes and I was not involved in the care of this patient.
    • If you are able to identify the appropriate clinician please can you pass on the questionnaire and call our office on 0207 251 9060 so that we can update our database with the correct clinician details. If you are unable to pass on the questionnaire please contact our office on 0207 251 9060
  • I have received the questionnaire to complete but I have looked through the notes and the patient did not get admitted to critical care during their inpatient stay?
    • If they had a hospital stay of 3 or more nights or they died they are still included in the study. If not please telephone our office on 0207 251 9060 and we will exclude the case.
  • I have received the questionnaire to complete but I have looked through the notes and the patient had an inpatient stay of less than 3 nights, would they still be included?
    • If the patient died or went to critical care then they would be included. If not please telephone our office on 0207 251 9060 and we will exclude the case.
  • I have received the questionnaire to complete but I have looked through the notes and the patient did not die should they be included?
    • Yes if they had a critical care stay or a hospital stay of 3 or more nights. If not please telephone our office on 0207 251 9060 and we will exclude the case.
  • I am going to struggle completing the questionnaire by the deadline date noted on the cover letter?
    • Please telephone NCEPOD on 0207 251 9060 to discuss extending the deadline.
